How we rate prediction markets
Last updated: 2026-01-15
YouPredictionMarket independently scores six prediction-market platforms on seven weighted criteria. A senior editor signs off on every rating before publication. We update reviews quarterly, and immediately after any material fee, licensing, or product change.
The seven criteria
Regulation & licensing
20%We check each platform's regulatory status in every region we cover — CFTC in the US, ANJ in France, GlüStV in Germany, AGCO in Ontario, ASIC in Australia. Play-money and forecasting platforms are noted as unregulated by design.
Liquidity & market depth
20%Higher liquidity means tighter spreads and reliable fills. We sample order books on flagship markets (US election, major sport, top crypto contracts) rather than trusting headline volume claims.
Fee schedule
15%Explicit taker/maker fees, deposit/withdrawal costs, and on-chain gas where applicable. We flag hidden costs (e.g. withdrawal minimums, currency conversion) that reduce effective payout.
Category breadth
10%How many event categories the platform actually resolves — politics, sport, crypto, weather, geopolitics, culture. Breadth matters for users who want one account, not five.
Mobile & UX
10%First-load speed on 4G, order flow clarity, error handling, funding UX. We test on both iOS Safari and Android Chrome.
Payout speed & reliability
15%How quickly winning contracts settle, how fast withdrawals clear, and how reliably historically. Bank withdrawals rated separately from crypto withdrawals.
Support & disclosures
10%Documented terms, KYC transparency, responsiveness of support, and quality of educational material. Opaque terms cost points.
Editorial independence
YouPredictionMarket earns commission from some outbound "Visit" links. That commission never influences the rating, the ranking order, or which platforms we cover. Editorial and commercial decisions are made by different people, and every review is signed off by a senior editor who does not see the commercial terms of any affiliate link.
Update cadence
Every review carries a visible "Last updated" date. We recheck each platform at least once per quarter, and immediately after any of: fee-schedule change, licensing change, regional availability change, or a material product release.
